Our Story

Montana born

A ranch family, a mill path, a working cloth

DuckworthJ exists because the wool never needed to leave this country. Fourth-generation herders still run sheep on high Dillon country. The office that answers your mail sits in Bozeman. Between those two points sits a U.S. chain of scouring, spinning, knitting, and sewing that we can name.

Most merino brands stitch a label onto fiber that crossed several oceans. We start on pasture between 5,000 and 9,500 feet, where a season can swing from forty below to ninety above. That weather writes crimp into the fleece. Soft, durable, and lofted enough to move sweat then hold heat.

The operating company is Bridger Fleece Collective LLC. Copyright, invoices, and the mailbox all use that name. The brand on the leather patch is DuckworthJ.

Visit Sheep to Shelf for the mill map, or Fabrics for the six cloths we actually cut.

Sheep to Shelf

We don’t buy mill leftovers. Fiber, yarn, and finished layers stay under one ranch-born supply chain.
